Environment



On Saturday September 7th, the Pretty Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated - Pi Upsilon Omega Chapter, visited Mary Star Of The Sea Catholic Academy and Hugh W. Campbell Primary School. During our visit we completed maintenance on the fruit trees that are planted around the school’s campus.

June 22nd, 2024 marked the momentous occasion of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated - Pi Upsilon Omega Chapter Community Garden Ground Breaking.
We believe that community gardens provide fresh, nutrient-rich produce to locals, which can enhance nutritional health.

REGIONAL PLANTING DAY💚💗
On Saturday April 20th, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated - Pi Upsilon Omega Chapter planted 4 trees in honor of Regional Planting Day.

Pretty Girls With A Green Thumb!
PUO collaborated with local government students at Eight Mile Rock High School. We donated soil, plated vegetables and completed garden maintenance.
Project "Planting, Growing and Soaring to Enhance our environment" was a success! The ladies of PUO got their pink and green gloves dirty by planting 7 trees at a local catholic school garden.
In celebration of our 115th Founders' Day, Pi Upsilon Omega returned to Mary Star Of The Sea Catholic Academy to prep and pot seeds for the Winter Season.
Our "Enhance Our Environment" mission was continues by Sorors participating in Mangrove Maina's Outplanting. 300 red mangroves were planted to end 2022 and set the tone for 2023.
Pi Upsilon Omega along with Mrs. Ann Marie Davis spouse of the Prime Minister of The Bahamas, the Minister for Grand Bahama Ginger Moxey and GBCH Executive Director June Hitcheson, planted several bread fruit trees at the Grand Bahama Children's Home.
In collaboration with Waterkeepers Bahamas, Pi Upsilon Omega potted, measured and water Red Mangrove seedlings to help prep for Mangrove Mainia's Outplanting.
Pi Upsilon Omega broke ground at Mary Star Of The Sea Catholic Academy's Garden by planting seeds.
